Minimum
System Requirements to use WeBspañol
1. The recommended browser is
Internet Explorer 5.0 and higher or Netscape 4.5 and higher.
2. For AOL users, please upgrade to AOL 5.0 or higher for best results.
3. To listen to the audio components of WeBspañol,
your computer must have the software installed that
is capable of playing audio files. The best known audio player that is
available for free is the RealPlayer.
You can download the program for Free
from the internet. Click on the link above or to the left to download
the Free Real Player. Make sure
you select the Free version of the
real audio player. These programs are not available from handsonspanish.com.
4. A multi-media ready Computer that has a Sound Card installed
and working.
5. Speakers or Head Phones plugged into your Sound Card that
are capable of playing audio files.
6. A computer with atleast a 28,800 connection speed to the Internet.
7. To hear the WeBspañol
audio segments, click the phonograph symbols.
Your computer should launch the real player in the background and begin playing
the audio segment. Depending on your computers connection speed, this could
take up to 30 seconds, so please be patient.
8. The site is designed to be view with your screen resolution at 800
x 600. To configure your monitor for these settings on a Windows
PC, Click Start, Setting, Control Panel. Click on the Display Icon, then select
the Setting Tab. Adjust the Screen Area Slider to 800 x 600,
then click O.K.
9. If there appear to be text overlaps
on a page or if information appears to be missing,
Set your text size to medium.
(within your browser there will be a text size selected to view web pages).
That is the only way some of the pages will line-up.
Then click the "Refresh"
or "Reload" button on your browser.
10. After you complete each quiz,
you will see the answers page. It will display the answers you got
incorrect. If you'd like to see the answers you entered on the quiz page,
click the "back" button on your browser as the "back"
button on the web page will take you to a blank quiz page.
Trouble
Shooting:
* If you are having problems playing audio files from the WeBspañol
online course, please do the following to help
narrow down the problem.
1. Make sure you volume control on your computer is not set to "Mute"
2. See if you can play other audio files off the internet. You can
test your computers ability to play audio files from www.mp3.com. Select
any music type from this site and see if you computer can play audio from
here.
3. You can also search for current audio files located on your computer.
To do so, if you are using Windows, Click on the Start Button, Select Find,
Files or Computer. Search for files of the type *.wav. When you see a list
of .wav files on your computer, double click the .wav file. You should hear
your computer begin to play the audio file.
* If you are still unable to play the audio files after performing the trouble
shooting steps above, please call the place where you purchased your computer
to see if they can help trouble shoot the problem. Unfortunately, Hands
On Spanish is not capable of trouble shooting all the different types of Computers.
